What am I seeking to be?

12:14 pm Tuesday, 27th December, 2016

In my profile introduction I have said that I consider myself a transvestite rather than a crossdresser. I am sure there will be many who will say that they are the same thing. But to me there is a subtle difference.

As I see it a crossdresser is only seeking their own pleasure from wearing varying amounts of feminine attire. While they may wear it out in public, it is 'hidden' from view by their usual clothes. So, from my perspective, a person who wears panties and a bra uder their street clothes because they enjoy the feel of satin or lace against their skin (which I think is fantastic, don't get me wrong) is focussing on their own pleasure and is a crossdresser.

On the other hand someone who wears female attire because they see themselves, at that time, as being more female and dressing appropriately is a transvestite. It does not mean that they want to be female (although that can be their goal) but that they identify as female at that time. It is an extension of the comment about 'getting in touch with my feminine side'. This is how I feel. I may in the future decide that I do want to transition to being a female but that is a future decision. My immediate feeling is that there are times when I want to be seen as female, both in the physical and psychological sense.

I will look at my reasons and record my thoughts. If others wish to contribute I am more than happy for you to contribute your own views, comments and thoughts.
