Where does the pleasure start? With a glimpse of skin – or the first touch?

8:37 am Wednesday, 23rd November, 2016

When you think about sex, what comes to mind? Chances are, for most, the majority of images and adjectives are associated with touch. We have five senses, sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste. And to actually fully enjoy anything in life, we need to look for ways to stimulate all of these senses, be it when it comes to eating dessert or making love. Whenever our senses are alerted, our bodies respond accordingly. We can increase the level of information we feed to our brains by focusing on these five sensory organs and figuring out what sends them into this frenzy of heightened activity. When we use some, or all of our senses during sexual activity, we experience a greater amount of pleasure as our brains get flooded with seductive messages. This alters our hormone levels and arouses the body and mind. With the discovery of the touches, smells, tastes, sights and sounds that cause us to vibrate internally, people can begin to embark on a whole new level of love making that will enhance and heighten sex lives dramatically, stroking egos, igniting the imagination, and tickling the dirtiest, most primal corners of the psyche. So, with the above in mind, which sense, with the exception of touch, plays the largest role in your sexual pleasure?

Personally, after touch, it is sight that play the most important role, followed by taste, hearing, and smell. For this reason items like blind folds can become very interesting, forcing a focus onto the remaining senses.

For me, it's sight. There's a reason why guys are called visual creatures. I see a beautiful naked woman, the image is etched into my brain. Other senses then come into the picture. I wonder what her skin feels like to the touch. I wonder what she'd taste like if I went down on her. What would the scent of her body remind me of? So sight, touch, and a tie for taste and smell. I think being deaf wouldn't affect the experience much. What's your take, Maria?

Hahaha I had not considered the multi-tasking element. we did a poll a little while ago on this subject and the results were: Sight 44%, Sound 22%, Taste 18%, and Smell 16%. It made me curious to know more about people's thoughts. I suppose for me it would have to be sound as words can be ravishing 🙂

Well Maria, you have me thinking much more about how to incorporate more sensory stimulationdeprivation into things.

Hi Angelici, the poll asked, which sense, with the exception of touch, but I imagine if it had been an option the results would be very different indeed. 🙂

Fully agree with the theory of the five senses. Looking into your partner's mouth is supposed to send signals to the brain indicating y

Besides every senses you so well described, I would add to those senses the ATTITUDE. It makes all senses come together as one.

Touch mmmm it's essential but  it works  only when the  partner is hot sexy or may be an average. If a person next to you is ugly than no matter how seductive the touch might be,  it's would be a harassment and not sex.   So sight is much more important to create a feeling of attraction for lovely hour.
