For many of us, the fun of Halloween has come around once more. Is it me or do the adult costumes get sexier every year. Being a big lady I sometimes find it very hard to compete with all the gorgeous, scantily clad beauties that haunt the night. So I decide to go for the scare factor rather than the sex angle. This year, I seem to have gone cute/scary with a zombie Alice from Alice in Wonderland. Being a book lover, for some reason all my costumes seem to be inspired by my favourite novels.
Working away today, I just made myself giggle as I remembered my early twenties and, being a smart-ass (or so I thought at the time), deciding to attend a Halloween night out as Edgar Allan Poe’s ‘The Pit and the Pendulum’. I achieved this by dressing completely in black, cutting a huge, gaping hole in the armpit of my top and then fashioning a rather wobbly-looking pendulum from cardboard and tin foil! Result in my head — genius! Result in real life — wtf?!
Long story short, I spent the night shivering away due to a very chilly armpit and being addressed as ‘the…erm…Razor Lady’, by everyone who wasn’t calling me a daft tit. Only one person understood my ‘amazingly lame’ outfit and he was subsequently rewarded by being ridden and loved upon for just over a year. Ah memories…..
And so another Halloween celebration begins, with me hopefully not looking as much of a wally as I did that year.
So, what is everyone else up to? Do you go scary or sexy? Have you got an outfit planned? Is there a costume you have always wanted to wear?

My best costume ever was for a last minute invitation to a party in my 20's.....i cut up my mom's oldest sheet (I think she never noticed it was missing?) and sewed it into a long flowing robe, put my (then very long) hair into a multi rubber banded pony tail off the top of my head and became a chanting Hare Krishna.

No Blue Peter badge for me LillieG, i didnt even get one for my terrible Tracy Island. Fetch, I just nearly choked on my cup of tea reading your petrol pump comment. Sounds like an amazing costume EG and far more innovative than my tin foil mess from my twenties. Open, Elvira is a legend and i am sure you will look boobtastic. As for me, i went out in my Alice ensemble last night (watching the rugby tonight) and had a really great laugh with my friends. Have woken up this morning with a bit of a hangover and looking like a hybrid of Uncle Fester and Sloth from The Goonies- Sexy much!! Lol |
