At what point does it change?

11:31 am Wednesday, 12th February, 2014

So you meet someone. You hit it off, you connect in whatever way these things happen.

What happens to the rest of the hot/nice/sexy guys you've been chatting with?

Me? I'm a flirt. I admit it. I love the banter of chat, the fun, the laughs. Not about to give that up for anyone....but....at what point is it seen as "keeping a few pokers in the fire" rather than friendly chat?

Honesty is, of course, key. Not telling the guy/gal you're chatting with that they are not going to be first in line any time soon, if ever, is just leading them on.

But is it wrong to still enjoy that flirt, knowing it'll not go anywhere anytime soon? I've heard varying opinions, some aimed directly at me. What's yours?

"Flirting is a woman's piggy bank. She knows she'll be able to draw on her pennies in times of need."

I am naturally flirtatious; can't help myself.
I do try to make sure those I'm chatting to know my intentions (ie I don't have any intentions), but I think maybe my message isn't clear enough. Unfortunately this has lost me a couple of online friends.

I read your profile and it seems honest to me :) I on the other hand, am not a flirt. I'm here for one thing to meet a like minded lady. I have realized that this is probably not the site for me as I don't live in the UK :)

This seems to be the "reverse" version of your previous blog about "old flames" all crawling out of the woodwork at once - this time from a female perspective.

We all flirt to a degree, and I'm as guilty as anyone when it comes to "irons in the fire". However, as far as the blogs are concerned, flirting is largely for entertainment and theatrical effect. I suppose when I first started on the blogs I might have entertained the idea that it might be another path I could pursue to the inside of someone's knickers (excuse my French), but now I realize that was a little puerile (ahem.... !). Apart from banterish bonhomie, if any lady bloggers were *seriously* trying to flirt with me, then certainly I'm unaware of it, but I can be a bit myopic at times..... :-)

“Me? I'm being ridiculous? You're the one flirting for your thesis. What the hell kind of degree is that anyway? A doctorate of dick tease?”

I used to flirt with girls just to get the guys circling around us. I'm getting out of it now. I have to look after my reputation.

LadyLemon: If you think *you're* out on a limb on this site, what about me ? :-) Admittedly, I do come to UK on and off, though. From what I've gathered, there seem to be plenty of members in Canada; as for Japan, there seems to be only one couple represented.... and I've met them :-)

I've always believed that in this game any publicity is good publicity, especially for a bloke (haha....). I'm sure that single photo you have on your profile gets more hits in a week than I get in a year, although perhaps not always from your target audience :-)

"The secret of flirting is to flirt with everyone and not tell them you are flirting with anyone else."

I suppose the same could be said for shagging :-)

From The Mikado, Pish Tush's opening song.

" Our great Mikado,virtuous man,
When he to rule this land began,
resolved to find a plan, whereby young men might best be steadied.
So he decreed in words succinct,
That all who flirted, leered or winked,
Unless connubially linked,
Should forthwith be beheaded ! "

On that basis,my head should have been chopped off years ago !.... Or maybe it was and I just didn't notice.
