On August 21, 2013, I received a call from my mother about the death of my big brother, Robin. I was shocked, overwhelmed, and depressed to hear about his untimely death at the age of 57. He left behind a wife, son, daughter, and grandson.
He was running with his son when his heart simply stopped due to some kind of defect from within. The doctor said he was dead before he hit the ground because his eyes were glazed over when he was examined at the emergency room.
I've cried much within the moments I have to myself, because my brother never condemned me for being transgendered; he was always kind to me, smiled at me, and treated me with the consideration, dignity and respect that most other so-called Christians fail to do when they find out I am who I am.
I love him with all my heart, and I shall miss him so very much....

Thank you to all of you for your warm, loving comments. We finally buried my brother today at the Veteran's National Cemetary in Montivallo Alabama. The profound dignified way in which the entire event was handled will always be with me, my family, and his family too. |
