There are 3 different methods.
1. Stop VCS and bring all service groups offline, stopping application services under VCS control.
2. Stop VCS and evacuate service groups to another cluster system where VCS is running
3. Stop VCS and leave application services running.
Number 1 and maybe number 3 will ever be used with .
hastop can also be used to stop VCS simultaneously on all systems in the cluster.
hastop local [-force] [-evacuate]
hastop sys sys_name [-force] [-evacuate]
hastop all [-force]
The options and arguments
-local stops the engine on the system where you typed the command
-sys stops the engine on the system you specified
-all stops the engine on all systems in the cluster
-force stops the engine but not the application services
-evacuate migrates active service groups to another cluster system
hastop sys this stops the engine on
If you specify the force option to stop VCS and leave application services running, if you restart VCS on that system , the resources are immediately taken over (seen as immediately online), as opposed to being stopped and restarted.
