I'm separated and have two grown up daughters, not living with me

I have a College Degree Diploma education.
I live in Cardiff.
It was March 2018 when I was submitted to Hospital after suffering a stroke.
I was released in June 2018 when I returned home to my wife of 36 years .
However In April 2019 I was taken back in to hospital by my daughter suspected of having a second stroke according to her.
Medical tests confirmed I hadn't suffered a second stroke however I was still suffering many issues from the first stroke but they had got me out of my home. And they wouldn't allow me back home.
So there I was - back in Hospital and suffering the many issues from the first and only stroke I had.
I was classed as homeless as I remained in Hospital. It was a lonely period as my wife put a new SIM in my phone so I lost all my contacts built up over many many years were gone.
During my recovery it was my clinical psychologist and the stroke association support co-ordinator who were the only external people I ever saw.
To say I am a stroke survivor - never a truer saying said and I will tell you why.
Before my stroke I was up to smoking 60 cigarettes a day and drinking half to a litre of vodka most nights.
I had become a functioning alcoholic - it never stopped me going to work every day where I worked for my mate who had a building company. (I ran his admin accounts - I would often join him on a job and get stuck in to pretend I was keeping myself fit.
And that is why the stroke saved my life as I haven't smoked or drank since.
My stroke survival had left me with some brain damage, and partial disability in my face and the right side of my body include complete paralysis of my right side including my right arm which was my predominant arm and hand.
I had made a sufficient recovery to be released but I had no home to return to as my family no longer wanted me.
I had become a bed blocker as i heard a member of staff refer to me one day.
Cardiff council eventually offered me a self contained flat in Ely which I immediately accepted as it was my exit from the hospital.
Hospital was a sobering experience.
And I haven't smoked or drank for nearly 3 years now after 40 years of doing and enjoying both very heavily.
I used to look forward to when either the psychologist Or the stoke association girl would visit me.
They were both very positive and supportive of me. So much so I classify them both as my new family.
During my time in Ely I grew very disappointed as I never saw anyone.
I was also becoming depressed as I still wasn't seeing my family, and my wife and I began the divorce proceeding.
Unbeknown to me they both could see the excitement of finally being released from hospital was being curtailed by the lack of human interaction.
They were both aware my stroke mental damage was not being helped by the lack of human interaction. They could both see it even though I couldn't.
So from living on my own and never seeing a sole - and struggling with all my physical disabilities- I know have 102 flat mates that I will be able to mix with and share life with.
I also now have carers which I see every morning to assist me to start my day and every lunch time when I enjoy a properly prepared and cooked 2 course meal.
On October the 12th when I moved in to my new home I ate my first properly prepared and cooked meal in nearly a year and a half as previously all could manage with only my left hand was microwave meals.
Going forward my plans are not to return to the buck chasing world I spent 40 years in but to volunteer to work with the Stroke Association so I can share my experiences to assist and support any survivors with their issues.
I have completed the induction training with the association.
