Hello, I would love to embark on documenting the lives of transgender people. Gender dysphoria is a complex condition that can be difficult to understand. I want to get to know you and try to live in your daily struggle between inner life and appearance.
About ten years ago I met a youngster who felt uncomfortable about his gender. His mother told me stories which showed me how little understanding there was from his surroundings and how her son suffered beneath them. Her stories touched me. I also had never heard of gender dysphoria. I was guided by my fascination with the perplexing split between body and mind. But also by the courage of the young people who refuse to allow society’s expectations to dictate their lives.
More about me... Although I have been a professional photographer since 1986, I have decided to continue my professional development with a degree programme through Plymouth University, using the Truro College campus. One of my projects is to compile a bespoke portfolio with the intent of creating a book of photographs. I am passionate about documentary photography and have already created one portfolio with accompanying book which have been very well received earning me a Distinction. I could show my work to you to let you see my style of photography.
