It wasn’t until that backpacking trip that I realized how deeply nature could heal me. I didn’t complete that hike because I was wildly out of shape and couldn't physically finish, but the light I was seeking was back. It was dim, but I felt it, and it was enough to illuminate a path to where I wanted to go. I knew one thing: I wanted to do more of this outdoorsy stuff, and I didn’t want it to be a total suffer fest. The hardest thing I've ever done in my life physically (that hike) was the catalyst for a new relationship with my mind, body, and spirit.
