With both vanilla and kink I am measured and try to be practical while also keeping the long-term in mind. Fun now is great, but if some patience will lead to a better outcome down the road then I prefer to look for a nice middle ground. I consider it illogical to presume that I'll like to find a submissive who matches me exactly on every little thing both in and out of the bedroom.
