I work with language students and in the US language seems to create a chasm that is difficult to cross. Most don’t understand what’s involved in language learning, don’t know how to communicate about those skills, and don’t know how to transfer other systems to the application of languages. Yet language skills and the accompanying intercultural competencies are in very high demand in the workplace.
