I describe myself as a good person. A good leader with a strong sense of ethics. I'm honest and always respectful of others. Probably the most important thing of being a good Dominant is that you aren't domineering. By that I mean you aren't oppressing andor a bully. A true Dom should be open to communication and self-growth. I pride myself in being someone who is empathetic and takes great pride in teaching those around me so they can be a better person.
A good Dom knows that the sub is always in charge. If that person doesn't consent, they can take back that power. If they don't feel appreciated or feel they are being looked down upon, the relationship will not work. The power always lies with the one who gave out their control in the first place. For one to give up their power, I've got to have the qualities that will draw them to me and trust me. That is always my ultimate goal. To make my sub feel safe, loved and respected.
