hummmm.... i can only think of a reason:

i would not show up if i find that the other couples are not attractive (appearance) (maybe they photoshopped their profile pictures) as imagined expected.

i have not arrange a meeting though....

why do people not turn up for meets

I think they fall into several catagories ,those that sit in front of a computer and live in a fantasy world . And those newbies that do want to meet but chicken out at the last minute when reality sets in , there are the odd genuine reasons, family probs car probs but the genuine would give sufficient notice usually.and then unfortunately the trolls that arrange meets with lots of people without any intention of turning up for anyone .
Sadly there used to be an ettiquette to dogging and swinging that the net seems to have killed off
