what is it with male thongs why is everyone so against them tell me your love or hates about them

Each to their own i suppose. If you have the anatomy to carry it off then a male thong might work for some folk.
My own personal preference is a stripey Victorian bathing suit complete with straw boater and curly moustache for those dips in the sea at Skegness
