I have seen the genuine member sign by some of the profiles

What is this?

I know thi is probably a stupid question but I'm new on the site and would appreciate a little help

the Genuine member tag is put on by other genuine members when they have met people.
Prior to this there is an option to 'make genuine'.
The system is good in theory because it shows the person has met and been verified as who and what they say they are.
Unfortunately some people have been tagged genuine without having met anyone.
Maybe a good idea would be to show who tagged a member as genuine?img src="imagesadultemoticons004.gif"
