Avoiding detection

Can anyone tell me is there a way of checking what sites, pages etc have been entered and viewed on the computer once the temporary files, cookies and history have been deleted.
This i'm sure all members do so as partners that are not aware of their extra curricular activity do not suss them out.

Re: Avoiding detection

Good question! Deleting temp files, cookies and history will work for any non-computer buff, but remember that files which are deleted by the normal method (ie. Recycle Bin) REMAIN on your hard drive and can easily be restored with many freeware programs. This is because the files are not destroyed (even if you have emptied the bin), they are simply flagged as not in use by Windows. They may be overwritten at a later date by Windows, but I have recovered files from my PC from WAY back!

Use a program to actually DESTROY files, such as Steganos or many of the freeware shredder progs. They are as easy to use as the bin and much more effective. If you want to save files (ie.pictures etc.) then use Winzip to zip them with thw Password function, then destroy the original files.

Hope this helps. By the way, your pic looks GREAT!!img src="imagesadultemoticons006.gif"

Re: Avoiding detection

Sounds like you are mentioning, the system restore files.....and they are just that 'system restore', not ur own porn restore..............

Re: Avoiding detection

No, webtrekker is correct. When you delete files from your hard drive they are not actually deleted, only their entry in the file index is deleted.

You can use software such as "Recover My Files" to scan your hard drive and restore files which you have "deleted" (but not really deleted).

Re: Avoiding detection

OK here goes, deleting the history by going to ToolsOptionsGeneral Delete files when it asks about cookies say yes. Do the same for the history too.

If you have a computer buff indoors you will need to put on another programme to delete all history and logs but for 99% of population the above is good enough.

Re: Avoiding detection

Use a third party programme like Window Washer

It removes all temporary files, histories etc etc and cleans the index.dat file. This is important as it contains a log of the pages visited.

Deleted files are "shredded" and overwritten (user settable) up to a level whereby they cannot ever be retrieved - even by professionals.

You can also clean the unused areas of the hard drive for files which have been deleted but are still there.

Hope this helps

BTW this is my first post!!
