X and Y Part 2 - A man of contradictions

9:31 pm Tuesday, 9th April, 2013

How do we compare to each other? X smiled as the thought worked its way through her synapses. They were so different to each other. At first this had been a major concern. She had deliberated all the options all the conflicts in their personalities but still Y had proved himself to every albeit miniscule but important challenge she had set him. The amazing thing about him was that he very rarely seemed to know she was doing it. He had a beguiling naivety regarding his own presence that made her pupils dilate with affection and an electrical urge to give her self to him.

She had only joked yesterday with one of her colleagues that she was going to lunch with him today, her friend an enemy that she kept close had commented that she thought he might be gay. This was not altogether a surprise to her; one of her first thoughts when she had met him was that he was a contradiction in terms. He was physically imposing standing at well over 6ft with close cropped grey flecked hair, wearing a grey flannel suit that fitted his bear like frame and giving the impression of someone you would not want to get on the wrong side of but who could protect you implicitly.

But he came across as being shy and unsure of himself, He wore jewellery, silver rings on both hands one of which was a beautiful thick Celtic band. He also wore a silver bracelet. This was not what she was used to in a man. Most of the regulars of the pub she frequented would automatically have him pegged as a “poofter” She had wondered about his sexuality and her friends confirmation of seeing him regularly in the bars of Canal Street the notorious gay village in the centre of Manchester put her at ease at his potential intentions towards her. This view of him would protect her throughout the beginning of their relationship she would gently mock and tease him even after she experienced the passion and control he had for and of her.
