The Elevator - Going Down Please
A flash of light was followed almost immediately by the sound of thunder. The lights flickered and the image on his monitor danced. Pete knew when he was beaten. He hit the save button on his computer and when it announced it was done he turned off the power. There was no point trying to fight the elements. He packed his things in his briefcase and headed toward the elevator. As he walked down the hall, he glanced at his watch. It was 10 P.M.. There wouldn’t be many people in the office at this time of night. He called for the elevator and quickly entered it when it arrived.

The elevator was made of glass and hugged the exterior of the building. His office was on the sixtieth floor. He faced out and watched the lightning storm as it crossed the city. He was startled when the elevator bell rang and stopped to pick up a passenger. It was Alice. She worked in a different department but he worked with her occasionally on some joint projects. He greeted her cheerfully and she barely acknowledged him and turned to face the elevator doors. Alice did not like heights and she hated elevators. She was a driven young woman anxious to get ahead in the world so she had to work for larger companies and they frequently had offices in high rises.

The truth be told, she rather liked Pete but at work she was either focused on work or aware of where she was. Each night she dreaded the trip down because she momentarily saw how far up she was. The trip up was not so bad because she could always keep her back to the view. The doors closed and the elevator resumed its decent. It had only moved a few floors when there was a blinding flash and a deafening roar of thunder. The lights went out and the elevator lurched to a stop. It was Alice’s worst nightmare. Alice made some sort of choked off sound and Pete tried to identify it. He figured it out. It was a whimper. A whole lot became clear to him at that moment. He had thought about asking her out on a date a number of times and those conversations always had some sort of strange disconnect. He now realized that what he was reading as disinterest was actually her being distracted by her environment.

Pete tried to calm her by saying, “There is nothing to worry about the emergency generator should start at any moment.” As he said that he noticed that lights were going out all over the city, it was a cascade failure. It was a good thing the building had an emergency generator because they would be there a long time otherwise. Just then the elevator lit up and resumed its decent. “See what did I tell you?” he said. Just as she was about to sigh in relief another bolt struck. The elevator screeched to a halt and only the lights to be seen were the lightening bolts in the sky. Pete could tell she was about to lose it so he stepped between her and the doors and grasped her shoulders. He said, “Nothing bad is going to happen. We are just going to have to sit here a little while. I know, how about a little music?”

Without waiting for a reply he opened his briefcase and took out an Ipod and speakers. He fumbled with it a moment and it began playing a song. She was only vaguely aware that it was playing at first. Then she began to recognize the tune. It was from one of her favorite old movies and she just had to laugh at the absurdity of it all. Fred Astaire was singing,
“Isn't this a lovely day to be caught in the rain?
You were going on your way,
Now you've got to remain.”

Alice grabbed him, gave him a big hug and buried her face in his chest. The song finished and another started. Alice said, “No, you didn’t.” Pete said, “That’s right, I didn’t. It is on random play now.” He backed away a little and bowed slightly from the waist. He asked, “Shall we?” In the background Debra Kerr was singing,
“Shall we dance?
On a bright cloud of music shall we fly?
Shall we dance?
Shall we then say "Goodnight and mean "Goodbye"?
Or perchance,When the last little star has left the sky,
Shall we still be together
With are arms around each other
And shall you be my new romance?
On the clear understanding
That this kind of thing can happen,
Shall we dance? Shall we dance? Shall we Dance?”

They more rocked and swayed to the music than danced but Pete was afraid the energetic nature of this dance would have renewed Alice’s fears. When the song ended Alice grabbed Pete by the ears and pulled his face down to hers and kissed him. A dam had burst. She hadn’t dated much since her college years and nearly eight years of denied passion burst forth on Pete. Her kisses became become hungry, greedy. She reached down and began fumbling with his belt and fly. His pants dropped to the floor followed soon by his underwear. She licked, she caressed, she made passionate love to his manhood. She was reading him well, Just before he reached the point of no return she stopped and began removing her skirt.

They no longer cared what was playing on the Ipod, it could have been John Phillip Sousa’s “Washington Post March.” Pete lay on the floor and Alice straddled him. She planned on riding him but Pete guided her forward until her now glistening bush was poised over his mouth. He grabbed her hips and pulled her down and ground her sweetness into his face. He had just wanted to make sure she was ready but she was already ready to explode. Her entire body shook. He wouldn’t let go of her hips. He drove her ever higher and higher. Her legs were beginning to burn with the effort. She was no longer sure or even cared if the flashes were lightening or in her own mind. He coaxed her back over his manhood and pushed his way into her tunnel of love. She relaxed a little which placed most her weight on his hips. She squirmed and wiggled a bit which really excited Pete. She began rocking slowly. His manhood was so engorged it hurt. She pinched her inner muscles and began pelvic thrusts timed so that it felt like her pussy was trying to suck out his juices. In that rarest of events the simultaneous orgasm they were joined by the loudest clap of thunder that day. They lay twitching afraid to touch or be touched.

They helped each other dress and none to soon. They had to rush because the lights came on and the elevator began to move. The doors opened and they were greeted by the maintenance crew who asked if they were alright. The Ipod began a new tune and the couple began laughing. Pete hung the speakers around his neck and began skipping down the hall hand in hand with Alice. He called back at the confused maintenance crew, “You had to be there.” The sounds of Gene Kelly singing fading into the distance,
“I'm singing in the rain
Just singing in the rain
What a glorious feelin'
I'm happy again
I'm laughing at clouds
So dark up above
The sun's in my heart
And I'm ready for love
Let the stormy clouds chase
Everyone from the place
Come on with the rain
I've a smile on my face”
