Protecting" Why the fuck would you need to "Protect" anyone?---credit to Lady-Ravencrest'

This is a very interesting take and sharing is the next best thing i can do

Several people have been asking, "What does it mean when you are 'Protecting' someone on your profile?" And their questions haven't always been so polite.

The perception of "Protecting" someone is that they are unable to take care of themselves and therefore shouldn't even be in the lifestyle. This is so NOT the case.

The fact of the matter is that everyone can use some support, guidance and everyone has the right to feel safe. This is my personal take on what it really means to be "Protecting" someone.

It's really quite simple. It means:
1. That they can come to me for advice regarding anything and they trust me to give them the best possible advice I can give them.
2. That they can ask me to be their "safe call" when meeting new people physically for the first, second ... until they feel safe with the new person.
3. That they can use me as their sounding board.
4. That they can use me for a reference for other's who wish to get to know them better as well.
5. That if they are in trouble they can call on me for help.

These are not all of the reasons one may want a protector, but they are the main reasons and the most important to me and anyone I protect.

It does NOT mean:
1. That I own them.
2. That I have the right to Dominate them.
3. That I have the right to make their decisions for them.
4. That I am their bodyguard or I will beat anyone up for them.
5. That they can use me as an excuse not to be responsible for their own actions and decisions.

What does it mean to you?
