12:31 pm Tuesday, 6th November, 2018

We want to keep you updated on the latest tactics the ungenuine people using the site are employing.

Here are email addresses being used by fake members as reported to us. Should you receive contact from anyone using or referring you to these email addresses, please report them to our Helpdesk.

Email Addresses Being Used

  • administrator.odp@thehubpeople.org

  • thehubpeoples@onlineprotectors.com

  • fling.sitadmn@gmail.com

  • thehubpeople@onlineprotectors.com

  • securityassessment@thehubpeoples.com

This list is by no means comprehensive of the email addresses they may be using, also look back through our past Stay Safe content and be wary of anyone who seems suspicious or too good to be true.

In addition, here is some of the website URLs they have been attempting to direct genuine members to. As above, this is by no means exhaustive and should someone send you a website URL, always be vigilant, even if you may not see it within the Stay Safe content within these articles.

As we’ve previously mentioned numerous times within these articles, staying within the site is the safest option until you feel that you know someone well enough as we can recall any communication. Should you venture off-site, there’s not much we can do to help as we have no control over other communication platforms.

To reiterate, it really is best to get to know someone within the site. They owe it to you to spend some time allowing you to get to know them. Surely they will want to do the same thing should they be genuine as if they had any intention of meeting you in person, surely they would want to feel assured that they also knew you were genuine. So be wary of anyone eager to get you off-site and unwilling to give you much information about themselves. Here’s a few pointers on getting to know them and weeding out the fakes from those with genuine intentions.

ASK, ASK, ASK

Sure the site isn’t usually used for serious relationships with most interaction of a casual nature but even if it is merely a one-time thing, it’s paramount that you’re safe with whoever you may be with and logically this should be the way of thinking for anyone speaking to strangers on here. Fakes want to spend minimal time reeling you in, so ask everyone LOTS of questions about themselves. Chances are, the average person will be happy to answer most questions for you that aren’t too personal.

Check For Image Duplicates

Ask for pictures from people you are talking to and then Google image search any images sent to you in order to check for duplicates. To do this go to the Google images page or images.google.com and select the little camera icon at the right which is the image search tool. Then upload the images sent in order to check that they haven’t been stolen from other pages.

If there’s no sign of the images being duplicated then this doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re still not stolen, they may have simply been taken from private pages but it is a good option for spotting possible fakes.

Video Call

Once you feel that you have gotten to know them enough, then ask for a video call. You’re going to be meeting up in person, what’s a little video call? If they have an issue doing that but still seem eager to get you off site, chances are you have a bogus member on your hands.

Don’t Give Out Your Card Details or Sensitive Info

The bottom line is, don’t give out your card details or sensitive personal information to anyone who you don’t know. If you are in doubt please speak to our Helpdesk staff.

Should you come across anyone who uses any of the above email addresses, URLs, or should you believe you may have pinpointed a fake, please report them to our Helpdesk staff.

Thanks so much for reading and keep watching out for more of our StaySafe information!
