Ever since the conception of the Earth and mortal race, sex has been the centre of human imagination and fantasy. Around the world, humanity has a grand history of holding some rather bizarre attitudes toward sex, and whether it leads to sexual proclivity or prudishness, there are a ton of weird sex practices around the globe that will make you go WTF!
To celebrate National Earth Day here are some strange and downright crazy things I bet you didn't know about doing the deed. Prepare to be enlightened.
The Apple Of My Armpit
In 19th-century rural Austria, eligible ladies would keep an apple slice stuffed in their armpits during a ritual dance. At the end of the evening, the girl would give her used fruit to the guy she most fancied. If the feeling was mutual, he would eat the stinky apple. (Something’s telling us Austrian guys weren’t too broken up over the downfall of this ritual.)
Wife Stealing Festival
The Wodaabe Tribe of Niger in West Africa holds the Gerewol Festival yearly. The Wodaabe's first marriage is arranged by their parents, however at the festival, Wodaabe men wear elaborate makeup and costumes and dance to impress women - and hopefully steal another's wife. If the new couple is able to steal away undetected, then they become socially recognized. These subsequent marriages are called love marriages.
Public Masturbation Ceremonies
Ancient Egypt was obsessed with masturbation. They believed that Atum, the Egyptian God of Creation, created the universe from his ejaculation, and that the Nile River is the direct representation of that miraculous torrent. Thus, they would ritually masturbate into the Nile to ensure an abundance of water for crops.
Ritual Hall Pass
During the celebration of Pon in Indonesia, seven times a year, celebrants make a pilgrimage to Java, a sacred mountain. Participants have to spend the night and have intercourse with someone other than their wife or husband. It is said that their wishes of good luck will only come true if they have sex with the same person at all seven celebrations throughout the year.
Ancient Greeks Were Completely Out Of The Closet.
In Ancient Greece a noble man was not seen as homosexual to take on a lesser born man as a lover...as long as he was the one doing the penetrating. He was seen as a dominant, a role associated with masculinity, higher social status, and adulthood, while his lover was associated with femininity, lower social status, and youth.
