Depending on where you are, it might be pretty chilly. Enjoying a hot buttered rum drink could certainly be a good way to warm up. Join together with thousands of others as they celebrate National Hot Buttered Rum Day on January 17th.
Ingredients
- 1 stick unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups light brown sugar-1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon grated nutmeg
- Pinch ground cloves
- Pinch salt
- Bottle dark rum
- Boiling water
Directions
In a bowl, cream together the butter, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt. Refrigerate until almost firm. Spoon about 2 tablespoons of the butter mixture into 12 small mugs. Pour about 3 ounces of rum into each mug (filling about halfway). Top with boiling water (to fill the remaining half), stir well, and serve immediately.
Heaving Chests and Jolly Rogers
Hot Buttered Rum Day is also a fantastic excuse to indulge in some naughty piratey role play. Jack Sparrow will have nothing on you, matey! Plenty of heaving chests will have flags raised high for sure! Remember what they say about the motion of the ocean? It sure is good to be Captain!

This drink will turn every man’s head. Literally and figuratively! Most will construe it as a promise, so if you serve it you may have many takers for a second or third round. This drink is actually a shot. The glass is filled half with Bailey’s Irish Cream and half with amaretto almond liqueur. It is topped with whipped cream to add a suggestive appearance. The drinker is supposed to drink it sans hands so that the whipped cream goes everywhere. This one also makes a great party game.
Slippery Nipple
No one can miss the innuendo in this drink’s name. It is comprised of equal parts Bailey’s Irish Cream and butterscotch schnapps.Likely one of the first in a long line of drinks with naughty names, just like Sex on the Beach. There are many different drink names that start with ‘Slippery.’ Most contain either Bailey’s Irish Cream or butterscotch schnapps.
After Sex
Again, any drink with the word ‘sex’ in its title is enough to do the trick and set the mood. This drink is made with vodka, crème de bananas, and orange juice. Gotta make sure you get your Vitamin C!
Leg Spreader
This drink is not for the faint of heart. Not only is it naughty to say, but there is nothing but liquor in this drink. It is made of four equal parts of nothing but alcohol. Of course, there is tequila. After all, tequila doesn’t have the reputation it does for nothing! The other parts are vodka, gin, and rum. Proceed with kinky caution!
All Night Long
The inference in this name is probably what most people wish for, but too many these will have you passed out on the floor all night long and missing all the fun. It contains sweet and sour mix, coconut rum, Kahlua, crème de cacao, and pineapple juice.
Screaming Orgasm
There are quite a few drinks with similar names. The base Screaming Orgasm is made with vodka, Kahlua, and Bailey’s Irish Cream. It sounds like screaming over the toilet all night, especially since a less-than-premium vodka will make the cream in the Bailey’s curdle.
Screaming Multiple Orgasm
What gal would order a Screaming Orgasm when she could have a Screaming Multiple Orgasm? Not one! This is just one of many drinks that promise some sort of orgasm or two. This drink is made with orange liqueur, Bailey’s Irish Cream, Galliano herbal liqueur, and milk, and garnished with strawberries.
Screw Me Sideways
There is little left to the imagination with this drink. Not only is it an innuendo, but it also includes instructions. This drink is made with pomegranate schnapps, Jagermeister herbal liqueur, and cranberry juice. The ingredients should be shaken with ice and poured.
Ménage a Trois
There are a lot of different versions of this drink because it’s basically a combination of three ingredients (haha, get it?). Here’s a popular version that you won’t be disappointed with: Shake up dark rum, triple sec and light cream with ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
