Most people have heard the term ‘outdoor fun’ these days and could give you a fairly correct description of what it entails. What about ‘cottaging’ though? What are the risks of cottaging?
It Aint A Quaint Holiday Home In The Countryside
Cottaging resembles outdoor fun somewhat, in the sense that it is people having sex in public places. However, these people are generally gays and it’s usually performed within a public toilet. This name ‘cottaging’ originated from the shape of some of the public toilets in Britain that look like small cottage-like buildings where men would meet to enjoy sex.
I’m Cruising
To begin with, these men may ‘cruise’ for a potential partner, scouting wide open spaces such as parks and lay-bys. Should they meet a willing participant they will move to the closest public toilet and have exciting, spontaneous sex. Should they come across one another within the bathrooms themselves without having to cruise, they may utilise a cottaging hole which can be found carved into the walls of some toilet stalls. This crotch-high access enables two men to have sex without being in the same cubicle and offers can help lessen the chances of being caught.
Watch Out For The Law
If you’re interested in taking up cottaging or already indulging in it, then there are some laws you must be wary of. There is no legislation against cruising, at the end of the day, there’s no real way of proving what it is that you’re trying to do. Unless you’re on private property of course, you’re doing no harm by walking around. Sex within a public place however is illegal, that includes lavatories, they are after all for the general public. Even if you were concealed behind the walls of a cubicle and being as a quiet as a mouse, you are still at risk of being caught and being charged with indecent exposure.
So should you be dead set on cottaging, be aware that there are dangers to this past time, so keep yourself safe and out of trouble.
