Why might someone abstain from sexual contact for a prolonged period of time? What are the consequences?
Time For A Break
There are a number of reasons why someone may remain celibate whether it be religion, a break up, medical issues etc. One possible motive for abstaining is that of spicing up a relationship’s sex life. For instance, if a married couple has a rocky relationship or their bedroom activity has just become plain and routine, they may try to have a break from sleeping with one another, or perhaps even seeing each other for a while.
Less Is More
Due to human nature, the more we receive something, the less we appreciate it and are desensitised to it as it becomes part of the norm, like brushing your teeth of a morning. It’s most likely that imprinted into your daily agenda that you barely even realise you’re doing it
The same goes for sex or anything in fact, another way to describe it is like when you walk in a room to a bad smell, it smells it’s strongest to you because you have only just been exposed to it. Yet the longer you are around it the less you will notice it, until gradually your senses won’t pick up on it anymore because you’ve adjusted to it.
Set A Date
For many people this stopping sex for a period of time would be near impossible and is much easier said than done, however if a couple set a date for breaking their celibacy they will be much likely to stick at it due to having a target to aim for and look forward to. A romantic meal somewhere on the day will ignite a spark and intensify their lust for one another even more as they gaze at one another over the dinner table knowing that their ban has broken and they’re free to get naughty.
Watch This
A relevant movie to watch would be ’40 Days and 40 Nights’, the main character takes a vow of no sex for lent and attempts to overcome the hurdles in his way including beautiful women whilst maintaining the pact he’s made to himself.
