Lies You Should Tell Your Other Half

2:42 pm Friday, 1st November, 2013

We all know the infamous question that is universally dreaded by males the world round... “Does my bum look big in this?” In a man’s head upon receiving such question in his mind he flaps around like a spider on skates, but in reality he has to give a cool, collected answer. What if her bum does protrude in those jeans? Even if he likes it that way should he be honest, tell the truth and face the possibility of an agonising death for such words about his lady’s derrière? Or tell a porkie and let himself off the hook scot free? Sometimes honesty isn’t the best policy and you should tell a little white lie or two.

Weight Aint Nothing But A Number

The way society is these days, women do have pressure to fit a cookie cutter mould that envisages them as slim and sleek. Most men prefer a little extra weight on the female body than this ideal and what the lady herself would prefer. Most men will view a healthy, curvaceous body as sexy but not all women see it that way, for them their weight is a form of ranking between other females. The skinnier the body, the higher the social status. Now don’t get us wrong not all girls think like this, some prefer more cushioning on their bones and don’t give a damn to their mass but should your lady be one of the sensitive kind, avoid words you would deem positive such as curvy when describing her body. She may mistake you for insinuating that she’s fat. The same goes for the other gender however. No man wants to hear: ”You have such cute, little hands or “I wish I had legs as skinny as yours”. They want you to say adjectives such as ‘rugged’, ‘powerful’, or ‘manly’ when you talk about them. So when it comes to body shape or weight sometimes a bit of harmless deceit is best.

You Look Tired..Ahem I Mean Fantastic

If she’s having a bad hair day and asks if she looks a mess tell her you think she looks beautiful. The last thing she wants to hear is “your hair could use a brush through it” or “well, I could stick my groceries in those eyebags”. Whether you like lying or not, if you want to make your other half feel better about themselves yet you don’t completely agree with what you are saying a little off-truth words are best. You may think his hair needs a bit of gel in it or that her face is like a pepperoni deluxe without concealer to cover her spots but obviously you would need to tread very carefully to get this message across to them without offending, this is why it’s best to sometimes be slightly dishonest when it comes to things like this.

Not Just A Pretty Face

It’s not just appearance you should sometimes fabricate about but character as well. Should your partner ask you if you think they’re funny but you think they sometimes go a little too far with their jests or they enquire as to whether or not they sing like an angel they may be hurt should you tell them otherwise. You could attentively attempt to compromise by saying “yes I think you’re hilarious but..sometimes you overstep the line with your jokes” or “ I think you have a beautiful voice but..you only suit certain songs.

If you get lumped with an awkward question such as something in this article just remember that 99% of the time it is but, honesty isn’t always the best policy.
