There really is some downright cringeworthy pick up lines floating around there, so many it’s unbelievable. What’s even more astonishing though is that people actually use them in an attempt to pull a bit of tail. Generally one line wonders are just used by men in a bid to woo women, the cliche setting being a bar. As cheesy and hilarious as they may be to hear, might they possibly sometimes work at grabbing the attention of the ladies?
Could They Work?
A recent study performed on female university students asked them how they work react to a playful one liner. The results showed that the women thought of the men dishing out cringey remarks as entertaining and sociable but lesser in intelligence and trustworthiness. This may explain why one of these humourous pulling attempts usually wont go down too well with a lady unless she is looking for a brief encounter rather than a longer term relationship with someone more stable.
So there is hope for those chat up line utilisers after all, if you’re tempted to jump on the pick up line band wagon, here’s a few to get you started placed into categories from tame to face slappingly harsh.
