This article has been written to help our members get as much, or as little, as they would like from the "wall" feature on their profile page.
First things first, what is a "wall"?
A wall is basically a live news feed displayed on your profile page, which you can customise so that you have a quick and easy way to see all the information about your friends and contacts in one place, without having to check each profile individually to see what they've been up to.
Where can I find my wall?
Your wall loads automatically on the left hand side of your browser window when you view your profile. To switch between your "wall", "personal details" and "meets", simply click on the appropriate button at the top of the wall, as shown below. This applies when looking at another members profile page too.
If you would like to view older posts from your wall, simply click the “show more” button at the base of your wall.
How do I change my wall settings?
There are various settings which can be altered in order to make your wall work in the way you would like. Simply click on the icons located in the top right corner of your wall, to turn the following options either on or off:
The button that shows a red circle containing a white eighteen gives members the option to decide whether "explicit" media is displayed on their wall.
The yellow picture frame symbol allows users to specify whether images are shown on their wall as thumbnails (small) or full size images.
Click on the icon that shows the silhouette of a person's head if you only want to see your own site activity IE, your own profile updates, who's viewed/liked your profile.
Click on the icon that has the silhouettes of two people if you want site activity from both yourself and your friends to be displayed on your wall.
Click on the balloon shaped icon if you wish site activity from yourself, your friends, and selected members local to you, all to be displayed on your profile.
Click on the cog icon to change your wall's privacy settings. When you click on this icon, a pop up window will appear where you can choose who you allow to see your wall.
Select “Public” if you want all site members to be able to view and interact with your wall.
Select “Public, Friends write only” if you want all site members to be able to view your wall, but only members on your friends list to be able to interact with it.
Select “Restricted to friends only” if you only want members on your friends list to be able to view and interact with your wall.
Select “Wall disabled” if you do not wish to display a wall at all.
Then simply click “submit” to update your privacy settings as selected.
How do I interact with other members by using the walls?
The walls provide various opportunities to interact with other members...you could post a status update telling other members about how you’re feeling or what you’ve been up to, or you could post a recent photo for others to enjoy and comment on. You can connect with other members by commenting on their status updates or photos, or if you’re feeling shy simply “like” them instead.
Posting on your own wall
To post a status update on your wall: simply type whatever you would like to say into the box at the top of your wall and click “post”.
If you change your mind and wish to remove a status update from your wall, simply hover your cursor over the post and a small cross will appear opposite it on the right hand side of the wall. Simply click on the cross and the post will be removed from your wall.
To post a photo on your wall: First, click on the “photo” button above your wall, which will present you with 2 options: New Media or Existing.
