Common Sex Myths

3:20 pm Thursday, 15th August, 2013

Let’s set some sex myths straight. Myths are juicy little rumors that we mostly, at one point have all believed on a larger scale. Here we have some great ones.

Women have a lower sex drive than men

False. Testosterone can fuel a man’s sex drive, but lifestyle factors weigh heavy on a man’s need to have sex; meaning that despite a man’s testosterone level, he can still in fact end up with a lower sex drive than a woman. Factors such as smoking, stress, and age all have a damaging effect on testosterone levels and overall can decrease them.

A woman won’t get pregnant if a man pulls out

We’re sure this has caught many out and sadly is not true. A man produces seminal fluid before he ejaculates and this actually contains sperm.

Condoms protect you from STD’s

Nope...genital herpes and syphilis can be caught from skin contact alone meaning that you’re not totally safe.

If you watch porn a lot you will get addicted to it

Ok, so this is kind of true. Just like anything, you can get addicted to it if you obsessively do it day in day out. However, porn statistics show that only one percent of everyone who surfs the net for porn, in America, actually end up with a more long-term issue with it. Compare this with Facebook addiction statistics though and you will find out that 18% of users (70% of the total population in America) under 25, can’t go a few hours without checking Facebook. Looks like you have a much higher rate of getting addicted to Facebook than porn because if you really think about it, is 70% of America really looking for porn.

Your sex drive will increase if you eat oysters

Do not worry, this is not true. There is no scientific evidence to prove it. Phew!

Women do not like porn

Oh yes we do!

Sex gets boring after you’re tied the knot

Not true too. Being married can actually mean regular sex and also can improve the quality of a couples sex life because couples are able to get more intimate and secure with each other.

It’s easier for a woman to reach orgasm with a penis

This is actually the opposite. For all you men out there, it’s easier for a woman to reach orgasm through masturbation as oppose to a penis.

So there you have it. Some common sex myths have been busted.
