Speed Dating Tips

4:02 pm Wednesday, 17th July, 2013

Speed dating can be great fun, but for it to be fun, you need to relax. If you’re a newbie to speed dating then it can be a little nerve wracking on your first time round. For those of you with some pre-speed dating nerves, here are 5 tips to help you relax and get the conversation flowing.

Give yourself a boost and invest in a new outfit and hairdo. This builds your confidence before you have even arrived at the event. When you look good, you feel good so try to make the effort.

Smile. Remember to smile, despite the nerves of meeting someone new.

Never give away personal details, so be careful what you say. Although most are there only for the speed dating, you never know!

Try to prepare some questions to ask before hand and also include some fun questions too such as do you snore, or what is your favorite joke? You will lift the mood and break the ice instantly.

Time is of the essence so try to keep your answers short and avoid the waffle.

Alcohol calms the nerves but there is nothing worse than trying to chat someone up and they are drunk. Try to keep your drinks to a minimum or you could end up putting-off potential suitors.

Hopefully these tips will help you in your next speed dating adventure. The biggest trick to calming your nerves we have left until last, and it is.....have fun! If you go in with the right attitude then this will almost always calm your nerves before hand. Try not to think of speed dating as random strangers judging you, but rather as an opportunity to meet new friends, and if you get really lucky, meet the man/woman of your dreams. ?
