I have been into crossdressing, to some extent, for a long time. Realising there are so many who feel likewise, and chatting with them, helps me to embrace this as a normal part of everyday life.
It wasn’t always this way. I used to do it very privately. The idea of sharing photos of myself on a site like this was unimaginable. In past relationships, I would only risk dressing up when I knew my other half was away and wouldn’t be back any time soon. Until quite recently, I still preferred to dress late at night while my partner was in bed. Even though they were fine with it.
We started to go out together looking at clothes, mainly in charity shops. She goes up to buy most of my stuff. In smaller places, I still feel it can be a bit claustrophobic and think I can feel the eyes of the shop assistant on me. I get easily embarrassed or very self-conscious. I have started to get more confident in bigger stores. I returned a shirt dress that was too small for me. Last week I bought some hair nets in Boots, even managing to deal with being served by a male assistant. I put them face down on the counter - just to help him read the bar codes, you know? He turned the product over. But I didn’t feel at all flustered.
Yes, it is baby steps but I am getting more confident about dressing or at least wearing some kinds of perceived femme items in public. That doesn’t mean I’m ready to go for a night out on the town in my glad rags yet, but who knows what the future holds?

SteffiEdi as a crossdresser it is hard to shop, I do most of mine online, yer some times it hit and miss but you do learn sizes you are. So when you go to a shop it makes it abit easyer to buy the right size. and when I do go to a shop I think of shopping for a women (girl friend) and not me. and wish all the best on your way to find your true self. |

You can buy any women's clothes you like anytime anywhere. Don't worry about what they think, the woman behind the cash register , will forget about you a minute after you walk away. I just do it and i don't worry about what people think. |

how about if there was a pub for sale you could tern a room in to a changing room for people that cannot change at home like you said & put a notice on a door saying changing rooms & if it had two doors you could put on one door gents & the other ladies so that when a man has changed he comes out of the ladies door straight into the bar for a drink as a woman as it will help shy people like you were so I hope that this helps every body, love Gillian. xx |

Steffi, I was very similar, wasn't confident at about buying stuff. Been getting a lot better, last time I was in Boots the assistant asked me who the foundation was for and I said me. She then recommended various products suitable for my skin type and colour. I've no problem now walking into M&S and buying clothes, not quite got there yet on lingerie. I've also bought items online and had the packages addressed to Susan. |
