Evolution and masculinity

12:51 am Saturday, 9th February, 2019

Modern day society has changed a lot of definitions, some just at the level of the word, for instance ‘cool’.  The other, is the fundamental concept, like ‘masculinity’. If I   were to travel back in time, say 100 years, I would find the word masculinity used in a different sense. My image of Victorian era masculinity, is skinny short man with a moustache wearing boxing gloves in a stance ready to fight, also swinging a hammer, building and repairing.
Nowadays the word is associated with another word: toxic. The concept of masculinity is almost invariably a pejorative, and is something that needs to be controlled or, even better, eliminated.
Even though I can’t actually go back in time, I have no doubts that today’s man is infinitely more androgynous than the average man in the 1920s or 30s. I feel sorry for women these days as they are evolved to be attracted to ‘men’ not ‘androgonoids’.  The same issue applies in  reverse of course,  though I suspect the affect on women being less  attracted to men  has been more devastating.
I wouldn’t mind betting that one of the reasons for alternative sexuality sites like this, is that unfulfilled need that evolution has given us, but its solution  has been put out of  reach by political factors.... hence the need for new  portals (like this site).

The question is ‘well that’s all good and fine there Mr Fake Anthropologist....but how do you explain male subs and dominatrixes?’

Good question. At a guess ....Its probably totally unrelated to the evolution stuff above, but there is some personal factor/ need that rides its own course, and totally overwhelmes the default evolutionary settings. Thats only an edumacated guess of course.
