A touch that never happened, almost.

3:57 pm Wednesday, 5th December, 2018

Recently I was chatting with a friend about my abilities and remembered an old poem which I described my ability concerning 'the touch'. Maybe it describes me almost meeting the love of my life, but also it describes the ability of how every human being can affect another through the simple act of touching. The touching of skin to skin is well document in science and especially in psychology papers throughout history. The effects on mental stability, social awareness and ability to have empathy suggest that without human touch we actually are unstable as humans. From my experience in teaching people from countries where if they were not held from 0 to 3, I can attest that behaviour is altered for life without touch.

the touch...

From a distance our eyes will greet,
a pace sets my heart to retreat.

You know my eyes with yours,
a glance to your contours.

Your chin dips and right,
our hands brush light.

The train with stops,
confidence drops.

the touch..

lost!

As a silly love poem it has little meaning any more but it came to mind while reading crumbs from a thread from friends. Truly when we touch people, even in a glance or chat, we forever affect them and their lives regardless of our intent. We may never know these effects and likely that is a good thing. The walls of building or a tree or even a stone found on beach will, if found by the right person, initiate feelings that touch them as they need in that moment. But without being open to the wanting for feelings, there can be no touch that will assist you in a journey that might change your life a little or forever. I have struggled like everyone to be open with my touch as my sensitive nature makes it difficult. This wall or protective nature is wonderful to an extent. We all have these walls and need them.

Yet, there are moments when the wall seems to crumble and each of us needs to touch another past the extent of our reach to ensure our abilities perform as intended. To love, to care, to appreciate, to admire and most of all, to cherish those in pain from their past. A past is a horrible thing to hang with these days. Be sure you need it, for as any ex-hoarder will tell you, if you didn't use it today, sell or throw it out!
