The past year I have attended 3 Tantra retreats - first was an intro (tantra yoga), next was all men's retreat (how to be a better man), and last was emotional healing (bodywork/tantra massage). I made friends around the world because of it. I learned a lot stuff about it.
Feels like it was just yesterday when I was in a foreign land attending my first tantra retreat.
My only idea about Tantra at first was based on pop culture - hours long orgasm, orgies, and some kama sutra like stuff.
But now I know it’s not about that. Simply put, Tantra is about connection to your being.
Life is about connections. Your connection to nature. Connection to people. Connection to friends and family. And connection to yourself. Your being. Part of that being is your sexuality.
The problem is our connection to sexuality is not discussed enough in society. Philosophy dabbles a bit with it and spiritual paths shun it (most religions will judge you as a pervert if you explore your sexuality).
Tantra is probably the only spiritual path that tackles it extensively. I'm not selling this way of life. It's not for everyone, it has its fair share of sleazy gurus and cult like groups that creates more trauma to women. And, its no ejaculation tenet is tough to follow. lol
What I'm trying to say is, for me it’s one of the things in my life that helped me become a better person.
