There are only two types of people who project themselves as intelligent and are only interested in intellectual conversations. They are usually those who are arrogant and those who are in reality, dumb.
When one is intelligent, they don't really have to put it out there that they are. Let the people you come across with or interact with be the ones to say that so as not to come off as arrogant. There's a fine line between arrogance and confidence and saying that you are intelligent to people you don't even know you is crossing that line.
On the other hand, people who are really dumb oftentimes project themselves as otherwise in order to hide an insecurity or inadequacy. This is what's called "Napoleon Syndrome". They project themselves as an intellectual without other people even asking them, before others find out the reality that they are in fact not an intellectual.
So if you are really intelligent, you don't have to say it to other people especially the ones who you dont
