At this day and age, most people barely lift their heads, smile or greet the person next to them. Almost all of the people that you see on the road, inside a PUJ, a resto or a household have plastered their eyes and focus on a gadget of their choice. Not that it's bad or that i condone the usage of these devices but a portion of humanity has been lost since the introduction of mobile phone let alone the internet. Before, being "personal" means leaving one's comfort zone and breaking the ice by mustering the courage to properly introduce oneself to another individual. Today, personalizing means usage of emoticons or capitalizing letters to express a strong emotion. Do remember that everything is and can be lost in translation.
Now what is my point and how does it relate to online sites? Simple. In order to get a favorable response, one needs to be able to stir up the mind, evoke a feeling or emotion and convey a universally acceptable, respectful, clear and concise message. That's how an individual should personalize a message in this digital age.

You have succinctly described the hoped for personalized message. It boggles my mind, that supposedly educated men of the over forty age range feel that using short form messaging, incorporating text speak in a message, and asking directly to be contacted by their mobile phone number or private email is the manner through which to obtain a favourable response from a female

More over with the introduction of the virtualization of society and expansion of convenient communication, some how we've managed to cripple ourselves. Mentally, socially, and personably we as humanity have taken quite a hit.

Well everything is well said. But to understand the deeper reason, we should realize that most of us are hiding under the sun. Since some of us are to shy or even discourage to make a move in real world that are afraid to be rejected. That is why they are more open in txt or internet. They are not afraid to show their other side in a virtual world without damaging their personality. |

Well we can say a lot of people on how they introduce themselves but we can't judge by their simple impression or expression. Who can blame them they are talking to stranger that they don't have any idea who they are. They are not sure on how to express themselves if they are talking to a real person or just a scammer. Face it or not people want to protect themselves from all humiliation and want to keep themselves in a discreet manners. We should only need to learn about respect and even take chances but it you would not given that chances it's not their lose either as long as they are safe from where they are. |
