FRIENDS ON THE SITE?

I've not been a site member for long but starting to be able to tell who people are and who i think i can count on in the long term. I have made a couple of frineds, ones i hope i will stay friends with for a long time. I suppose we all have different things we look for when forming friendships, it's probably more about finding things we have in common (not just on this site).
So far my 'True Friends' list is short but i will say they are 'the best' in my opinion.

I have spoken to many a folk on here over the years and some have become really good friends. I have been lucky to meet most in person at socials and others still to meet for a drink :)
I didn't know what to expect from this site when I first joined but seeing how friendly and lovely people are here, I am happy I joined.
As Sassy has said people are always there when you need them and for that I am happy to call them friends xx

Free ( or Cleo as I prefer ) What very agreeable comments you make .It's good to take people at face value and although one may be occasionally disappointed, to retain a belief in the inherent "niceness " of people.
Your words ring very true and I have found that on this site there are some excellent people who I am proud to call friends ( not least because they are so tolerant of my eccentricities )

I have read most of your blogs and must confess. You are a good writer. Earlier today in the vintage chat room you seemed nice. I couldnt put a face to who it was but having viewed your profile now. Cant wait for summer to come. Cause id like to have a drink with you. And if possible more. "I hope" and do not give up on ur search. Im sure there are loads of people down here that would want to see you. If i do go to malaysia before the summer. I would try and drop by beijing to say hi.

The friends made on here are probably the most sincere as they never judge and are not at first distracted by looks etc. Like Sassy, I too came here after an event in my life and the people on here who I class as friends have helped me and still do. I have been fortunate to meet a few but there are plenty of my friends who I only meet on here and help me through difficult days or just alleviate my loneliness. I hope to meet more of you and also make more friends. Tart,my Lovely.Remember this, You're never alone with a lodger in the spare room ! So far as being lonely is concerned, there are only 5 days of Test Match cricket at Headingly and if you do feel inclined to make sandwiches and a thermos of tea,that would be most appreciated. (Taylors Yorkshire Tea, of course ! ) Close of play is 6.30 pm.so there is plenty of time in the evenings to find other things to do !

Lillie and Tarto: I am glad that you have also found those people in your lives. I don't think many people would understand that even though I have not met some of my friends yet in person. I feel close to them just due to the fact they care. :)

That was such a lovely thing to do MrKitKat and I know she will really appreciate what you have done. Just proves how much some people care about others on here and what great friends they are :) xx

Ahh FFP, sorry i'm arriving late to your blog, what can i say.....
I've been accused of being a somewhat 'fussy fecker', which i will admit i am lol.
I'm even more 'fussy' when it comes to 'Friends' though i'm sure once anyone takes the time to scratch the surface they will find i'm a very loyal caring person. When i accept someone into my (dare i say) inner circle of friends then they normally remain their forever as true friendships come few and far between. I value and guard them with my life as some friends could never be replaced, it would pain me deeply if i were to lose their friendship.

Now on joining this site a long time ago i didn't expect to come across or bond with anyone in a way that would ever allow them to become close enough to be included in my well selected 'circle of friends' but i've been pleasantly surprised on the odd occassion and i've come to treasure some very 'Dear Freinds' from this site. They know who they are and they know i'm always here for them when they need me, as they have shown me that i can trust them with my deepest thoughts,feelings and fears as never once have i felt judged and they have never betrayed the trust i've given them. I've been accepted as 'Me' with all my complexities and funny ways, basically they accept me as i am 'worts and all' and in return i accept them for who they are. :-) x

Sunshine: I think you are not "fussy". I think friendship is just different and at different levels for different people. Quality over quantity is always a good thing to consider. I can picture for sure you being a great friend to have img src="imagesadultemoticons001.gif"

True friends stick with you through the good and the bad times, others that only wish to be part of your life for the fun times aren't really friends at all. Just my opinionimg src="imagesadultemoticons021.gif"

True! I met several great people on this website :-) I feel lucky to be part of this community

As others have mentioned 'True Friends' at times come few and far between, when we find them it is wise to try hold onto them as you never know we might never be lucky enough to find someone as special again. I have a couple of friends that i would go above and beyond the call of duty for , they only have to ask and i'd be there for them in a flash as they have always been there for me through some of the most trying times in my life. I've come across a couple of people on this site that stike me as having that same lovely quality, just hope that in time the connection between us will grow into a strong lasting friendship, in a 'friends' way not sexual manner, though...... :-)
