I've not taken much notice of the 'hot or not' section of the site, and it was only when I viewed my own profile that I realised that I had a 'hot or not' score myself. I won't say what that score was, because that's not the issue, but it wasn't very impressive. I wouldn't want anyone to think I am bothered either way about my own 'hot or not' score - validation by random people on a swinging site isn't one of the metrics I use to gauge my own worth.
Nevertheless, I was curious to see what sort of pictures achieved the highest ratings, so I had a look through the top end of the hotlist. Unsurprisingly, the women who scored the highest were all either young, slim and fit looking, or simply looked 'dirty' in some way.
It take some courage for a woman to post pictures on a site like this, and if someone like me (middle aged, in reasonable shape) scores so low then the majority of women must also get some disappointing scores, since I know damn well that there are more people like me in the world than the lucky few who score 9+. There are plenty of people whose confidence would be knocked by being voted down because they weren't young and gorgeous - is this the sort of message we want to give to women?
My opinion is that this hot or not 'game' - to use the vernacular - sucks, and also encourages the sort of mysogynistic attitudes I thought society in general are trying to get away from. At the very least, I think this site should give people to opt out of having their pictures presented to all and sundry to vote up or down. What do others think?

I find it interesting to see how many of the photos on there look like they've either been borrowed from a US holiday brochure, or else been scanned from a blurred holiday photo from before the falklands war! |

The whole thing is very superficial, I prefer to judge whether a lady is hot or not ,by her words and actions. |

Agreed SnowC but i'm sure there's probably something in the small print that allows them to use the pics. But you shouldn't take notice of it anyway. I don't think I (like many others) have ever used it and words will always speak louder than a click of a button ever can. |

Until recently I was completely oblivious to the Hot or Not function of this site (as is the case for many other nooks and crannies that remain unvisited). However, a few weeks ago I was informed that someone had given my profile photo "full marks", and that was my first whiff of the fact that some people do indeed while away the hours voting on people's pics. I was a bit bemused that someone should have rated the pic so highly, as I'm fully clothed and I used that particular photo as a joke. So the specific criteria on which this person's judgment was based remain a mystery: comedy value? composition? novelty? It certainly couldn't have been "sexiness" (haha.......). |

I often go through the Hot or Not section, mostly for perving to be honest.

Where's this hot rating? Is it only for women? I think a few women have added me to their hot list - is that the same thing? |

I'll say one thing - when I was on sites like OKC (which lasted one day before I deleted) it was really superficial to go through women's profiles with words talking about how they just wanted to be known for who they are beyond the face. The first thing you see on dating sites and the first thing you react to is the profile picture. That's just the nature of sites like this - would it knock people's confidence? I never really thought of that, that would be a shame. But my point is I skipped all those website profiles because it more or less told me a lot about someone's personality. I'd rather meet people who are grounded in reality and work from there on in. I've never rated anyone in my life on a sidenote. A lot of people I talk with are into saying "he or she is a 7" ... fair play to them. But for me when I am into someone there is no comparison or sliding scale. |

My view on hot or not tends to be that they are profiles which haven't logged on for more than 30 days and is intended to get those users to log back on when they get an email informing them they have been scored! |
