I've been likened to Vlad the Impaler a number of times: metaphorically of course :-)

I'm assuming that - if we really *are* incarnations of previous lives - then "liking" has little to do with it: I guess we just have to lump it and the regressed memories may not necessarily be "pleasant". However, if I *were* able to direct my consciousness in any truly desirable direction, then I wouldn't have to go back very far: I'd have given anything to be Neil Armstrong: cool as a cucumber, disarmingly modest and self-effacing, a fantastic pilot, and uniquely privileged among mankind to have taken that historic and epochal first step. Probably my No2 choice would have been Leonardo da Vinci: a renaissance man in the most obvious sense, widely accomplished, and equally versed in the arts and sciences. I think he was also one of the great secret jokers of the age: very tongue in cheek about religion, but clever enough to steer clear of any trouble - always one step ahead of the rest.

I think that I would like to have been a woman who w's in position to have carnal pleasure whenever and as often as she liked, and not to be held to account. Even better, if regression allowed me afterwards, to know what it felt like to be a woman. Best of both worlds perhaps, or a greater understanding of the problems associated with being either sex.
My wish would be that penicillin had also been invented at that time!

Taking that into account, I'd quite like to have been somebody who had a good laugh drinking mead with his cronies, had his way with wenches and didn't die horribly of some nasty diseasemurderwar etc.

DrZ: You have a valid point there :-) But then of course you'll still get people claiming that they have "unique powers" that enable only them to tap into past lives.

As far as wenches and mead are concerned, I'm sure there are establishments that can accommodate that sort of fantasy for a fee. I did go to a medieval banquet when I was in my 20s, but sadly I think I'd have been jumped on by security if I'd tried to play "hunt the goblet" that "accidentally" fell down the serving wench's cleavage. Must admit, though, I recoil mentally from what I imagine 14th century hygiene must have been like.

I underwent a regression hypnosis session a few years ago!

Got all excited, there was a brilliantly bright blue sky overhead. A vast crystal clear lake in front of me, miles and miles of uninterrupted fertile landscape, with snow capped mountains in the distance. The sun was beating down on my skin, warming me to the core. My bare feet felt good on the lush, rich green grass. My muscles rippled as I walked forward to the lake!

It really couldn't have been any better, till I saw my reflection in the clear water! 'Feck! I was a bloody dinosaur!'

There are so many great and interesting people to choose from!
The geek in me would choose someone like Rene Descartes. Not because I've got a hankering to come back as a man or even a seventeenth century man (smelly things), but to experience a great mind whose work influenced the world and the foreseeable future ... but only for a short time. I'm afraid I was born to be surrounded by more luxury than that period of time could provide.
