Way back before cell phone selfies and sexting, photos were taken by a film camera, which meant you would get your photos developed at a commercial photo or camera shop. That made it risky to take any nude photos because you didn't want some stranger seeing them or turning them in to the authorities. One night in 1977 my wife and I were celebrating the Christmas season and had a few adult beverages when we started taking suggestive photos of each other. That was my initiation into crossdressing photography. Later when sober I took the film to be developed hoping they wouldn't be too pornographic and censored or worse.
