In the BDSM world of Alphas and Dominants, there’s not just one type, there’s several different identifiable types, and even variations that combine two or more of the aspects of domination. Firstly, when most vanilla people think of a Dominant, they think of “The Sadistic Dominant” Type. The idea is that of inflicting pain at will on their subjects for their own pleasure, and possibly the pleasure of the submissive as well… or not. That pain can be physical as in caning, flogging, various pain inflicting techniques applied to different body parts, etc., these are examples of the physical aspect. Humiliation and degradation are examples of the emotional aspect. These Dominants are often thought of as someone who is scary looking and mean, or at least that’s the archetype in most people’s minds. Actually this type of Dominant comes in all shapes, sizes, temperaments and personalities. If you’re looking for a Dominant like this, know what you’re getting into BEFORE you play with them. Otherwise you might be in for very bad experience. Negotiating limits is critical to this type of play, if the relationship is new, I’d suggest using safe words too as a precaution.
