Liberal is a word thrown around in all kind of contexts these days, from religious to sexual conversations. Everyone has their own meaning of this word, so decided to share, what i mean by that, as i wrote it in my profile.
This will be just my humble opinion so feel free to disagree.
Liberal comes from liberty, meaning, a free spirit/not a slave. When it comes to a certain context, the meaning takes into account the above definition.
Let's take the example of society, it will mean that the norms which have been drudged into us from childhood, we are free from them. We don't need to recall them to make a decision for ourselves. A society says wear this and you will be powerful and another says the opposite, a liberal doesn't conform to any of these. They think for themselves. In other words, they are bi-curious and bi-literate.
To be a liberal, critical thinking is a must. Without this, one can not be free and will always be following some idea/person/norm etc.
Once a person becomes a liberal with critical thinking, there is no going back. And if, one is just a liberal, we sometimes see them, crying out loud and asking for forgiveness from the deities in the fall of their prime.
In simpler words, the word liberal, encompasses a deep understanding of almost all topics relevant today, be it history or sci-fi or anything in between.
At the end, i just have a request to all of you, be a true liberal please or don't be at all.
