Exploring Your Bi Side

4:44 pm Monday, 23rd September, 2019

Okay, let's admit it, many of us have thought about what it would be like to at least kiss someone of the same sex, and some of you possibly already have, but does that mean you are bi-sexual if you want to go further?

September the 23rd is Celebrate Bisexuality Day, so we have 6 tips on everything you need to know on exploring your curious side.

There’s nothing wrong with exploring your bi-side

You might have reservations about exploring your sexuality, you might be afraid of judgment because bisexuality or sexual fluidity is often associated with sexual promiscuity. This is far from the truth; If you try kissing someone of the same sex, it doesn't automatically make you gay or bi. Being bi-curious just means you – like all the rest of your fellow humans – are a complex erotic being, a little experimentation doesn't define you.

How to decide if you're ready

Start by exploring the idea of hooking up with someone of the same sex using your imagination. Consider what qualities and physical characteristics you're attracted to in the same sex. Try masturbating while fantasising about being with someone of the same sex.

Finding someone to explore with

Let's face it, chances are you are not going to go around winking at sexy strangers hoping they will fulfil your curiosity. So the best place to find somebody to explore with is online. It's a lot less intimidating to chat someone up this way. You'll also get a chance to talk things through with the other person before committing to anything to make sure you're on the same page.

Make your intentions clear from the get-go

If you're meeting somebody online or thinking about sleeping with somebody you know, you need to be honest with that person. Be upfront about being bi-curious with potential partners. Do not try to pass yourself off as an experienced bisexual or that you are gay and have been involved in multiple same-sex relationships. You need to make it clear that it might not necessarily be a regular thing because you're unsure of your sexuality or you're just exploring.

Doing the deed

You don't have to spill your entire story to your hookup partner, but if you want to go further than just a little tongue to tongue action, you may want to consider sharing that it's your first time with the same sex. Once you're in the midst of your hookup, just enjoy it! Don't think about what it means or whether this makes you bi or not. Notice what you're feeling in your body, but don't analyse it. Have fun!

Okay, now what?

If you're feeling even the slightest bit of curiosity, we encourage you to go for it. You are more likely to regret something you never experienced than something you did. For some people, it could be an important moment and a big change that leads to coming out. For some, it could mean very little. For others, it could be the sexual gratification they need. But for everyone, it should be an amazing experience. Leave your reservations at the door and enjoy yourself because sex is a lot of fun.
