First time gripe, sorry!

I've only just joined the site so can't really comment. I'm sure you're both right, though, lol!

Actually I thought the rot started to set in almost a year ago. The "golden age" was a couple of years back. Since then there's been an occasional flurry of wit and wisdom, but nothing much. I think blog quality tends to have a sort of synergism about it: if things are going well, then more people join in and there's a kind of chain reaction; if things are dull, boring or non-existent, people feel less motivated to contribute.

I agree that the blogs are not for pick-up artists, but on the other hand newcomers aren't necessarily aware of this (at least that's their excuse :-) On the other hand they *are* open to all. The other problem is that once you've covered the basic sexual or site-related themes, it becomes more difficult to think of stuff that's interesting and original. I suppose we could expand the range of subjects covered, but as this is a sex site many people might think that a blog on (for example) the current state of the Labour Party would seem incongruous and boring :-)

My own "problem" is that I find I'm becoming more and more adrift from current sexual memes, and there seems to have been a recent tendency for people to seek extremes and not the "traditional" male-female dynamic, so I don't feel as though I have much empathy. At one time I used to enjoy wading in and taking the piss out of things I considered just plain daft, but people seem to be losing their sense of humour and so now I feel less inclined to be so facetious lest people get "offended". So from my own viewpoint this partly accounts for why I've been so quiet lately.

Grumpy old git? Probably "bored and cynical old git" would be more accurate in my case :-) Maybe I should just hand over the torch to a whole new generation of bloggers who want to discuss riveting issues such as "hairy or smooth?", "why BBCs are best", and "why women always want to be dominated" :-)

You are right. The blogs used to be a great place with stimulating articles that could one second make you cry & the next be in hysterical outbursts of laughter via several detours through silliness & nonsense. The "Golden Age" was great and despite several of the main contributors leaving I'm still hoping that a renaissance will occur & once again they will be something to look forward to.

These are blogs, the place where anybody has the chance the vent or put their point of veiw across.
Not alll of us are adept at putting our thoughts into words, and what sometims seems like an interesting and burning question may seem dull and uninteresting to others.
Take solace in the fact that a majority of these blogs are interesting and occasionally a comment will appear that will make you piss yourself with laughter (the response to a question about anal sex, and i paraphrase; use a giant butt plug and a sledge hammer. You may have eyes like Nookie bear for a couple of weeks but after that you will be able to park a london bus in there!! img src="imagesadultemoticons022.gif" )
Just take the rough with the smooth, after all if it aint your cup of tea, dont comment on it.
Ps, you are not becoming a grumpy old git, like most of us, you like stimulation of the mental kind too.

I do wonder what some people are thinking when they post random and sometimes totally meaningless comments, each to their own...
I also wasn't suggesting ignoring all blogs, just those that dont appeal to you.
I have seen comments from some people getting on their high horse about the nature of some blogs, that this is a sex site and therefore all blogs should be sexually orientated.
From my limited experience of this site, the most popular blogs were non sexual related, those about music and female hair styling...
Surely then what makes for a good blog subject is something that masses can relate to?

A good blog is something to worthy to behold, with everybody feeding from each others posts as at meanders along quite happily getting creative juices flowing.
And dont despair, the next golden era has begun, you just have to embrace it for what it is.

Ok, so are we saying the new blog rules are: No food; no pubes; no foreskin, no heels, no sex, no Kit Kats, no tattoos ....

Personally, I don't mind blogs going off topic; sometimes they make the most amusing and entertaining reads.

One of my best blogs was about one of my many shoe adventures :-)

Being a simple soul I find it harder to slip into blogland these days now that the site layout has been - er - improved. I do try to slip in now and again with a pearl or two but I do find that notwithstanding the dross along the way the journey is often worthwhile.

I agree with Skebbie though about subject matter, I have tried to contribute to loads of themes but coming up with something myself has remained elusive.

So I will simply contribute that the word "facetious" contains all the vowels in the classically accepted order...

Welcum: Clearly you have a misconception about Japanese cuisine. However, I shan't digress....
To be honest, I've found that once feeble chit-chat exchanges about foodstuffs enters a thread, it's a sure sign that people have lost interest in the blog topic and things are sliding towards a yawn-inducing conclusion. By all means *write* a blog about food and include a discourse on Nutellachocolate, but don't expect me to contribute :-)

There is still a small nucleus of people who understand my flights of fancy and mental meanderings,not to say my esoteric attempts at humour and observations about the absurd.
However, notwithstanding these people who are gems,I'm going to stand against Jeremy Corbyn for leader of the Labour Party.Parliament would seem to be the ideal home for the nonsense I ejaculate !

Unsure from your wording whether you are for or against, but if the latter then I heartily concur.

BTW Gilli the hit and miss nature of profile pics was recently covered. Apparently bare torsos for men are now kosher again, according to admin. However, I've got to like my thinker pose so have opted to retain it.

Well, I'm not ashamed to admit that it is very likely that all of my blogs have covered MrBG, jelly babies, shoes, Nutella and numerous other 'unpopular' topics at some time. I even dared to discuss (whispers) sex ... shocker!

Haha .. with all of our disapproving, it's hardly surprising there are few who blog these days.

Perhaps some of our infrequent bloggers or non-blogging readers would like to give it a try. It's an unpaid and frequently thankless task, but can be self-indulgent and fun at times :-)

Actually it's a little-known Zen ritual that's practiced by some monks of the Unchi sect; they are encouraged to suffer the exquisite enlightenment of urgency for at least half an hour before removing their outer garments.

I haven't read every comment so if I'm repeating something already said, sorry. That said, being new to the blogging scene and after what I did read in the comments, it would seem that as a newbie, the challenge has been issued for some new interesting blogging. I do hope I'm up for the challenge. The one thing I can almost guarantee, most of mine won't be based on sex though part of the inspiration may come from that energy and no doubt leave the door open for comments which could come back to that topic, not that that will ever be the primary intention. :)

AG: I think you have made a great impression already. Also it's good to have a fellow blogger apart from FFP in roughly the same time zone. We have the advantage in being able to slip in risque comments 9 hours ahead of Europe, thus allowing them to stand for a few hours before they get zapped by the censor, by which time most people have read them :-)
OIcpl, on the other hand, are bringing up the rear, but this gives them the advantage of hindsight :-)

The delightful FFP, I do hope to meet that lady someday or at the very least, become online friends. Her write words are refreshingly honest. I also thoroughly enjoy her profile photo, they show just enough sensuality and femininity to entice the minds eye to want more without revealing anything recognisable that one could pick her from a crowd or just a few. Tasteful, artistic and beautiful. My thoughts anyway. :)
