Long Distance Lust... ?

8:22 pm Saturday, 15th November, 2014

Some friendships that develop on here remain unrequited, perhaps because of the distance.
How far would you travel, to meet, for the first time, someone you had befriended on here?

Depends on who, what where why and when.

I'd travel a long distance, I think....

Assuming I could. And that he was worth it. Some people are.

I recently flew over 1000 miles to meet many friends I have met on here.
It was a very special occasion for two of my dearest friends also and I was delighted to be part of it.
I just hope that people don't think " Thank Gawd, he's not on hand all the time ! "
But a word of warning ! Most areas of Wales, Scotland, Ireland and England are now within the reach of Easyjet and Ryanair !

I am sure that I am not alone in subscribing to the notion that travelling a distance makes the adventure more exciting.

For the right adventure I would travel the entire face of the earth hacking down jungle, staggering across desert, climbing the highest mountain and swimming the shark infested ocean to get there.

I might need a brew and a rub down with Sloan's Liniment on arrival but then I would be good to go!!

I would only ever do so after much time spent getting to know the person very well in other ways (calls, electronic mails and the like) Once they convince me they are worth my while travelling the distance required to meet, them i may well venture over the border x

I'm with Fetch and Rigger on this, not only is distance no great problem, but the journey there is a major part of the excitement to me.

Sue.The thing I like about economy airlines are their emergency procedures. If there is a problem, the co-pilot runs up and down the central aisle screaming " We're all going to die ! We're all going to die ! "
I get a bit nervous however, when the pilot comes over the intercom and asks " Does anyone know what sort of shape Ibiza is ? "
