I can only imagine what you must be thinking. You are probably pretty skeptical about guys on the internet at this point. Guys who misrepresent themselves, hoping to get a cheap thrill. Endless emails and texts without ever meeting, or setting up a date only to be stood up or stuck with the check. If you haven't completely given up at this point, then you have to at least be asking yourself, "Is this all there is?" "Is this as good as it gets?" “Where are the really good guys?”
First of all, let me say that you deserve better… we all do! The problem with most online dating is that people approach it with the idea that they will receive instant satisfaction. That’s how much of the internet works. We are told that if we fill out some forms, write a little description and post a few pics then, PRESTO! The love of your life will pop out on the other side. LOL! It’s great in theory but it doesn’t really work out quite that easy. Does it?
Real relationships take time to develop. It isn’t always love at first sight but there DEFINITELY needs to be attraction, interest and a desire to invest a little time no matter what the outcome. You see, you can’t be overly invested it things work out, meaning happily ever after, etc… It’s about committing to the journey and not seeking some kind of fairytale ending. As with anything else we do, things don’t necessarily work on the first try. You may actually need to meet several different people before you find that connecting spark. If you see this as a problem, or something that you simply cannot accept then you may want to stop reading right here. ;)
A few years ago I came to a place where I swore off relationships, dating and especially using the internet to try to find a good match. I think that many people go through this, and for me I just needed some time to learn more about myself, learn to enjoy my own company, and be happy just with me. It was an important step and I would not trade my “alone period” for anything. But as I grew as a person, I discovered that connection is something that is really important to me. I like women, and I desire intimacy and all that goes with it.
