Happy April Fool’s Day! The day where many people spend most of their morning on eggshells, cautiously entering rooms and thoroughly checking their seats before they sit down.
There’s the office classics such as planting airhorns so that when your colleague enters the room or sits on their chair they jump out of their skin and then there’s the simple sabotaging of teabags by emptying out the tea and replacing with something like gravy granules….hehehe.
Even commercial giants like Youtube and Google are at it solidifying the fact that most of the news stories online on the 1st of April should be taken with a pinch of salt. In 2012, Youtube announced that they would making available for purchase a DVD which compiled every video uploaded to their servers since 2005. When they have approximately 70 hours of video uploaded to the site each minute, thats gonna be a heck of a watch!
Google stated that they’d stumbled upon lost treasure maps which contained encrypted codes and needed users’ help to crack the codes and find the treasure using Google Maps!
A fantastic and elaborate prank was the BBC's convincing of hundreds of viewers that spaghetti could go on trees. They went to great lengths to film a short documentary in Switzerland where they'd put spaghetti all over trees and had actors picking them off as though they were really employed as spaghetti pickers.
