Just wondering....
Met with a friend the other day, and we were talking about the difference between an affair, fling, fun?
I class affair as long(er) term, fling as a one time thing, and relationship as an affair with an emotional twist. Fun can be anything in between.
Does it even matter? NO! but...just curious.

I've always hated the term "affair". It seems a kind of nervous and uncomfortable euphemism that was invented back in the old days by upper class twits to describe shagging someone who is not one's legal partner. |

Well you certainly seem to be a FUN-oriented couple :-) Like I sad above, it depends on the level at which you pitch it. It's just that "fun" seems a rather bland term, but....each to their own, as always. |

Curvy: Your first deffo reminds me of "Brief Encounter" :-) Sadly (or fortunately ??) that little "affair" remained chaste, but it's precisely that period that is conjured up in my mind whenever I hear the word "affair" being used in that context :-) |

olivers2: Sounds painful. Did this happen around 10 years BH ("before Hub" :-) or was it part of "real life"? I think the key to successful "dalliance" (now there's a good word) is to ensure you are clear of family. After that, the prospect of discovery is slightly less daunting and perhaps less damaging. I think at some future point in social evolution, we'll arrive at a point when it's generally considered OK to have a "central" figure in one's life while being free to....er....."interact" if suitable opportunities arise. I know it sounds a bit Utopian at the moment, but I think it's the natural way to go. |
