This is a highly debatable subject especially in our tiny sunny island, Malta.
By comparison in larger countries like the UK or Italy couples or singles can afford to just meet for sex instantly knowing very well that there is almost no chance of ever meeting that couple again anywhere. However, in Malta this is not the situation.....here I was contacted by many people I know and relatives (not knowingly as we use nicknames) and the chances of meeting swinger couples socially or at a bar/ restaurant or public events is high.
So, I highly recommend social interaction in Malta (or any small country/town) as otherwise it could get very awkward indeed. This is the main reason why Maltese couples won't flaunt their real names or face photos online very easily and I don't blame them. Infact I recommend it to new couples or expats who don't understand clearly the situation of living on a small island where everybody practically know eachother.
So trying to break the ice and become friends is recommended. Need not swing with all but it's important to be on good terms as you're gonna meet weather you like it or not ha ha.
