Jeff Goldblum has set social media ablaze with his recent questions regarding Islam, sexual and gender oppression, and the tension between the Middle East and the LGBTQ community.

The entire furore occurred when Goldblum appeared as a guest judge on RuPaul's Drag Race and asked Jackie Cox about her choice to create and wear an American flag-inspired hijab.

Cox recounted her family’s story of racial prejudice and how powerless that left her feeling. Cox does admit that it is a difficult situation, yet she is determined to live her truth while finding the positives in her culture.

Raise Your Voice

The question clearly struck a nerve, with many feeling it was a simple seeking question and others feeling it was insensitive and intentionally inciteful.

One positive to come from the divisive moment has been the fact that it has provoked many people to speak about their own LGBTQ experiences. Whether it is dealing with religious misgivings, the fear of disappointing parents and loved ones, hurtful experiences when coming out, and even how various countries are simply not safe those who do not toe the hetero-normative line.

Not to say that all feedback has been negative. Many are sharing how much the world has changed and how surprisingly accepting and loving the response was to them stepping into their sexuality.

The Floor Is Open

We would love to hear about your experience living life as a part of the LGBTQ community. Have you faced challenges and disrespect? Or were you blessed with a supportive family and friend group? Do you have any advice or encouragement for those looking to own their sexuality but who are struggling to step out?

If you really want to achieve happiness, I HIGHLY suggest that you stay out of Gay Bars and cruise hookup sites online...
I have searched and put myself out there, hoping to meet someone who wants a lasting relationship but only find that people want sex and then after you have good sex with them and a great connection, they GHOST YOU and never call you again...
There is no “community” in the so called “Gay Community”.
