Introducing myself, Vida La Fierce to everyone!

I’ve always loved writing and I’ve always loved engaging with people, so any outlet that involves both is a dream come true for me. As a drag queen, I meet all sorts of people, get asked all sorts of questions and come up against all sorts of opinions, so sharing my thoughts with people online and starting a conversation where I may get any number of responses (good or bad) doesn’t scare me in the least.

I’m old enough (just) to remember life before the internet and know that people are far more willing to be mean or vitriolic from behind the safety of a keyboard and I completely accept that – though that doesn’t mean we have to be comfortable with it. If you don’t like something you see online, that’s fine! We’re all into different things and that’s what makes us so fabulously rich as a species, but in real life, you don’t say something mean or dismissive or cruel about every little thing that’s not your cup of tea, you just carry on with your day, so I don’t understand why online life should be much different, but there we are. It could be just a phase humanity is going through.

Now, as I said, I’m a drag queen, which is another creative outlet I embarked on a few years ago and it’s great fun. Sometimes a bit of work, but fun work. I once heard the line “Do something you love and you’ll never work a day in your life.” Well, it’s absolutely true. It’s enabled me to find my inner self, my inner voice and a confidence I’d never experienced before. It’s also opened doors to help me meet some truly magnificent people that I might not have had the chance to meet had I not been in this field, so I decided to start a blog and share some of my feelings, my journey and all sorts of hints, tips and tricks that I have discovered and will discover along the way. Of course, I realise that’s not everyone’s thing, but it’s mine. It also is a thing for many out there, some of whom don’t even know it yet, so here I am, first time poster, inviting you on a journey, not just into MY life, but hopefully to a place where we build an understanding of somethings we didn’t understand before.

I’ve always loved playing with makeup, so I’ll be doing some things on that – God knows I’ve tested enough of it over the years!
I get asked a lot of questions that people might not have the balls to ask usually – So being the open book I am, I plan on doing some of that.
And I’m going to talk about how I found my passion and my strength and turned myself from depression crippled mess to international showgirl – and most importantly, how it’s OK to not be OK. You DON’T have to sparkle 24/7 – but you CAN find your sparkle again.

So if you want to be involved, I welcome you with a warm, sparkly hug. If you don’t, that’s fine too. I wish you luck and love as you peacefully pass by. But for those who are in – please fasten your seatbelts, make sure your seat back and tray tables are in the upright position and get ready for takeoff.
